Company Profile

Jensen Architects

Company Overview

We are passionate about creating buildings and environments that enrich the experiences of individuals, organizations and their communities. Guided by a responsibility to achieve the most using the fewest resources and to engage a broader cultural perspective, we develop solutions that embody each client’s values and larger purpose. Our wideranging portfolio—encompassing arts, education, residential, workplace and retail—is underpinned by an abiding interest in how we live and work today, and the pleasure we take in collectively solving design challenges through research, unconventional thinking, and a focus on craft. The economy and directness in our work reflects not only a clear concern for ecological sustainability, but also a deep appreciation of the inherent beauty that emerges when functional, experiential and environmental goals are efficiently and gracefully resolved.

We are recognized for innovative applications of proven building systems and materials and valued for our collaborative approach to design and construction. Our accomplishments are rooted in a culture of camaraderie that fosters longstanding relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues. We offer clients an opportunity for creative exchange that informs our practice as much as the resulting work.

Company History

JENSEN Architects was established by Mark Jensen in 2007. Mark has practiced architecture in San Francisco for over 25 years. After earning his Bachelor of Architecture at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, he worked in Italy with renowned architecture firm Superstudio and a noted fashion designer Enrico Coveri, before returning to the Bay Area. In 2014, Mark was joined by partners, Frank Merritt, Dean Orr, and Steven Huegli — all long-time members of the JENSEN team. In 2019, after seven years with the firm, Emily Gosack became the fifth and newest partner at JENSEN Architects.
