The University of Oregon is one of only two Pacific Northwest members of the Association of American Universities and holds the distinction of a “very high research activity” ranking in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The UO enrolls more than 20,000 undergraduate and 3,600 graduate students representing all 50 states and nearly 100 countries. The UO is located in Eugene, a vibrant city of 170,000 with a wide range of cultural and culinary offerings, a mild climate, and a community engaged with environmental and social concerns. The Pacific Ocean, Cascade and Coast mountain ranges, deserts, forests, and many lakes are within an hour or two drive, as is the city of Portland.

Company History
The University of Oregon (also referred to as UO or Oregon) is a public flagship research university located in Eugene, Oregon. UO was founded in 1876. Since July 2014, UO has been governed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon. The university is classified as having very high research activity and has 19 research centers and institutes. UO was admitted to the Association of American Universities in 1969.
The institution's campus is 295 acres in size and is situated along the Willamette River. The campus, which is adjacent to the historic Pioneer Cemetery, is considered to be an arboretum. There are roughly 3000 trees and 500 species of trees on UO's campus. Currently, the campus is occupied by approximately 80 buildings. However, there are several ongoing construction projects, as well as plans to build new facilities in the near future and beyond. The campus is the home of the Oregon Bach Festival.
UO offers 272 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines. The university is organized into eight colleges: the Robert D. Clark Honors College (the oldest honors college in the United States), the College of Design, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, the College of Education, the School of Journalism and Communication, the School of Law, and the School of Music and Dance. Additionally, the Graduate School oversees the university's graduate and certificate programs. Academically, UO is notable because it does not have programs in the fields of engineering or medicine.
UO student-athletes compete as the Ducks and are part of the Pacific-12 Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). With nineteen varsity teams, the Oregon Ducks are best known for their football team and track and field program. The strength of the track program, as well as its connection to Nike, has helped make Eugene become known as "Track Town, USA".
The architectural planning for the University of Oregon was defined and established by Ellis F. Lawrence beginning in 1915 until his death in 1946. He was the founder of the School of Architecture and Fine Arts in 1915 (later renamed the School of Architecture and Allied Arts and then the College of Design). Lawrence designed dozens of buildings on campus and created a number of general campus plans. He believed deeply in comprehensive city and campus planning. He designed some of the most beautiful and historic buildings, including the UO Museum of Art, the original 1937 Library, and dozens of other UO buildings.
